A Hurtful Tale

I heard a very sad tale from a young woman today. She spoke of her relationship with her long time lover. It seems they have been having some major problems recently. Her lover goes out and gets drunk, and when he comes home he abuses her and smashes their things in an angry rage. I told her that she obviously can not stay with him if he does things like that, but the problem is she loves him and doesn’t want to end the relationship. She has it in her mind that she can change his abusive ways, and she was hoping for some help doing so. However, in my opinion she won’t be able to change him, and the only thing to do is to get out of the relationship before she is seriously injured.
